LaserPilot Imports BTLx: Data Format for Laser Projection in Timber Element Construction
The LaserPilot software from SL Laser sets new standards in the precise laser projection of 2D-based data onto flat surfaces. In addition to established formats such as NUM/ISO/G-Code, DXF, HPGL and IGES, the software now also supports BTLx import. This expansion makes LaserPilot even more powerful for laser projection in timber construction.
BTLx is an XML-based data format for the exchange of machining and component information between timber construction software and production machines.
Direct Connection to CAD and CAM Systems
Through the direct connection to CAD and CAM systems such as AlphaCam, MasterCam or NC-Hops, LaserPilot is optimally integrated into modern production processes. The individually adaptable menu and the flexibly configurable control area provide a user interface tailored to the respective work process. From naming and grouping to resizing the function buttons, the controls can be individually adapted and can also be operated by remote control.

BTLx Format: The Future of Seamless Data Transfer in Timber Element Construction
In modern timber frame, roof, log and timber house construction, efficient communication between design software and saws and woodworking machines, panel processing machines, bridge and nailing machines, as well as laser projection systems, is of decisive importance.
This is precisely where the innovative BTLx format comes into play: Close cooperation between machine designers and software developers, such as cadwork, has created a powerful standard interface that is revolutionizing data exchange. In cooperation with cadwork, SL Laser has also established this format for laser projection.
The result: Customers benefit from the uncomplicated integration of our Pro Director laser systems, Pro Director 7, Pro Director 7 MR and Pro Director 7 LR, directly into their 3D CAD/CAM system. Entire construction projects can be exported from the software for laser projection almost with a single click.
What makes the BTLx format so special? It transfers not only the complete structural framework, including structure numbers, but also the panels of the assembly-side layer and opposite-side layer, together with nailing lines and drill holes. In addition, the system automatically recognizes the different projection heights, which ensures precise and time-saving implementation in production. The complete technical specification is provided by design2machine as the developer of the format.
